I created a comprehensive marketing plan for my first book through Simon & Schuster. The marketing plan was such a success that the company VP flew me to NYC to present my plan to the sales team. (A first for a newbie author!) My promotion plan, one made with a very minimal budget, resulted in over 1 million books in print.
You need to start early--up to a year before your book is published. Or, even if your book is out now and you want to increase sales, it's never too late.
